•POSTER DESIGN PROCESS
Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11:59PM I've finished the poster design for our August 28th show, and thought I'd share some of my process on this one, since the Beakman character took on quite a transformation from the original form. I posted images of the actual illustration process in a previous blog post, but wanted to show how I got to that point.
The basis of the August-28-hideout poster illustration, was an earlier illustration I did for a Heligoats poster quite some time ago, which was based off illustrations & Clay-models done by Heligoats front man, Chris Otepka. That illustration looked like this:
It's fun and simple - essentially following the design of Otepka's original Beakman Character. So Based on the original design, I created a sketch as the basis for the NEW Stylized Beakman. With the original design as a loose framework, and several bird images as reference, I quickly sketched out this:
After scanning in the sketch, I dropped it into Illustrator and went vector crazy. As stated before, some process pics of my actual illustration & poster design can be found a few blog posts ago - I also post many process pictures to my Tumblr and Twitter pages.
After many hours of work and revisions, I ended up with this. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
